LILY-LIKE POND PLANTS
Lily-Like pond plants are potted pond plants that are similar to water lily.  They are hardy bloomers with leaves that float on the water surface.  More lily-likes plants will be available soon!
Water Hawthorne - BLOOMING NOW!
Water Hawthorne loves to bloom in icy cold water. As long as your pond is not frozen solid, it will bloom and grow. A lily-like pond plant, the flowers have thick white pedals that push up through the cracks in the melting ice.  Blooms in the cool water of early spring and late fall.  When the water warms in early summer the plant goes dormant.  Water Hawthorne then comes back again when the weather cools.

The wonderful white vanilla scented flowers rise above the water surface.  Flowers are budding and blooming now! The leaves are mottled green and oblong. The undersides of the leaves are red in color. Truly unique pond plant! Shipped bare root.

All water irises are 1 gallon size and are 2-3 times larger than ordinary iris. Water Iris are especially grown to thrive in aquatic gardens. Regular iris grows from bulbs that do not survive in aquatic gardens.  Water irises are adapted to moist bog and pond conditions and grow from thick tubers.  There are many beautiful varieties to choose from and more in the warming spring months to come!  The Story Behind the Pond Plant Girl Store

The Pond Plant Girl Store first began in 1999 with my husband Glen. We lived in a little house on 7 acres located in Placerville, Northern California... and were struggling to survive.  On the property there was a half acre pond full of a grassy substance. I wanted to create an old-time swimming hole and began to pull the "grass" out, only to find that it quickly grew back.  After researching the Internet, I discovered the "grassy stuff" was actually called anacharis that was valued by koi breeders and water gardeners. I began to trade the anacharis for other water garden plants and also made about $600 that summer on eBay!

I fell in love with water gardening.  But mostly, I fell in love with learning how to make creative water gardens and teaching others how to water garden.  Since those days back in the 1990's... I believe in growing the biggest and fattest pond plants possible.  I like to get what I pay for and I'm sure that you do too!   This is a home-based nursery with plans for a wholesale nursery in town by spring of 2012.  I am always updating my website with new and exciting plants.  If you have any questions or just want to say "hi", please feel free to email me!
