Rosette Water Hyacinth is a free floating pond plant.  Each plant is 8" wide. Shipping is based on 1.5 pounds.

Blooms:  Water Hyacinth grows pretty purple flowers in the warm Spring and Summer months.

Oxygenating:  Water Hyacinth adds oxygen to your pond; which provides for a balanced aquatic ecosystem.  The long dangling roots also provide an excellent environment for spawning fish.  However, if you have koi in your pond they will eat the plant.  Water Hyacinth will not hurt your fish, but keep a supply in a separate container so you will always have a supply for the larger pond.

Clarifier:  I do not have any water filters in my personal pond, because the water hyacinth roots clarifies the water and keeps it clean! 

Perfect Garden Mulch:  Water Hyacinth grows quickly.  If you end up with too many plants, toss the excess in the mulch pile along with your grass clippings.  Because the hyacinth roots absorb the pond fish excrement, it works just like the expensive fish emulsion that is sold in stores.  Plants love it!  Your vegetable garden will love it too!

Water Hyacinth Care:  Grows best in full sun. Do not allow to freeze. Can be wintered-over indoors in a sunny window.  Flowers last 2 days, but plants will continue to bloom throughout the warm season.  Plants will have brown spots through the winter and green up during the spring. African Water Lettuce (also called Jurassic Water Lettuce) is a native pond plant of South Africa.  An oxygenating pond plant that looks like green floating roses.  Produces quickly.  Grows tiny white flowers in the center.  African Water Lettuce has nice soft leaves and is not brownish or leathery like other water lettuce plants. Plants will open up (somewhat like a flower) when placed in the water.  The roots will clarify and oxygenate the water well.  You can actually see the debris cling to the roots as the water lettuce naturally filters and cleans.  Approved by The US Department of Agriculture. Zone 9 - Grows quickly to 6"-8" in almost any climate and with the right care! You water lettuce will grow big like the picture. Each plant is presently about 3"-5" wide.

Wintertime Note:  The water lettuce you will receive is green with some slight yellowing.  This is normal for winter conditions. Plants will survive well through the winter as long as they do not freeze.    Plants will green-up in the warming weather and reproduce well.  Plants survive well in a simple greenhouse or under a clear plastic tarp.
